Dr. Jann Balmer, RN PhD
Dr. Balmer was appointed as the first full-time Director for Continuing Medical Education of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in December 1990. In her role as Director for CME, the Office of Continuing Medical Education has demonstrated significant growth in meeting the educational needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
In addition, Dr, Balmer serves as the President of the Alliance for CME. She served as the editor for the Best Practices in CME Handbook distributed by the Alliance for CME for 7 years. She also serves as a speaker at the Annual Meeting of the Alliance for CME, the CME Industry Task Force Meeting, the CME Congress, and other selected organizations. In her role as Alliance President, Dr. Balmer serves on the Conjoint Committee, the Tri-Group and JCEHP Owners Group.
Ms. Balmer holds a BS in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, an MS in Child Health Nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Gabriel Lazarus
Mr. Lazarus is currently a Marketing Director at Medtronic, in the company's Latin America division, focusing on CardioVascular therapies. At Medtronic he has held a variety of postings, including successful stints in the company's European headquarters in Switzerland, a global marketing role, and a business development position. Mr. Lazarus brings a unique advisory perspective to OpenQ, having previously worked for Bloomberg News in Madrid, Spain as a journalist. He also worked as Lead Advance for Bill Bradley's Presidential Campaign and a bond researcher at JP Morgan in New York. Mr. Lazarus holds a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Dr. Merrell Magelli

Dr. Magelli resides in Omaha, Nebraska and is currently Executive Director, Medical Affairs, at Horizon Pharma. She has over 12 years of Pharmaceutical Industry Experience as a Medical Science Liaison, Team Leader, Medical Director, Senior Medical Director, and Drug Safety Officer. Prior to Industry Dr. Magelli was the Clinical Coordinator at Children's Hospital, Omaha, NE where she was in charge of the Investigational Drug Study Program, P&T Committee Co-Chair, IRB Officer, and Board Certified Pain Specialist. Dr. Magelli served as a faculty member at both Creighton University and Nebraska Medical Center for 15 years and was Preceptor of the Year in 1997.
Dr. Magelli has recently been recognized by the Kellogg School of Business for her excellence in Entrepreneurship for developing and starting a model for Veterinary Pharmacy in Veterinary Distributorships. She is also a Nationally Ranked Women's Trick Water Skier.
Dr. Michael Williams

Dr. Williams received his MD from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a Master of Science in Microbiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his Medicine residency, Chief Residency, and Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, where he joined the faculty in 1986. He currently serves as Chief of the Hematologic Malignancies Section in the UVA Cancer Center and the Hematology/Oncology Division.
Dr. Williams’ research interests are in the pathogenesis and immunotherapy of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and CLL, and in the clinical development of new therapeutic approaches for hematologic malignancies. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, Chaired the Executive Committee for the LRF Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium 2005-10, and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Mantle Cell Lymphoma Network. Dr. Williams is Chair of the Hematology Subspecialty Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is vice-chair of the Lymphoma Core Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and participates regularly in national and international programs devoted to education and research in lymphoma and hematologic malignancies.
Wendy L. Yarno

Wendy L. Yarno has over 26 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Johnson & Johnson and Merck & Co., Inc. She has held a number of executive positions in the marketing, sales, human resources, and policy areas. She most recently was the Chief Marketing Officer at Merck & Co., Inc. and retired from Merck in 2008.
She is currently on the Board of Directors of St. Jude Medical, a medical device company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, and ADial Pharmaceuticals in Charlottesville, VA. Ms. Yarno is also on the Board of Advisors of HemoShear, LLC., OpenQ, Inc., and the University of Virginia Patent Foundation, all located in Charlottesville, VA. Ms. Yarno has an MBA from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and a B.S. in Marketing from Portland State University in Portland, OR.
